Harvest fresh produce for the hungry! Volunteers are needed at the Hunger Task Force Farm and Fish Hatchery in Franklin to help bring in fresh Wisconsin produce from the fields. Hunger Task Force will take it from there and deliver it to families in need.
Then relax! And wander the 139-acre grounds, enjoying some unique features of this historical, urban-rural landscape:
- 139 acres of farm land
- 6 acres of orchards
- 20 acres of tree nursery
- A full-scale indoor hatchery, including four outdoor ponds for rearing fish (to stock Milwaukee County Park lagoons for urban fishing)
- A blossoming nutrition education program taking root at the Farm’s 28-bed school garden
- and a unique Oak Savanna with a tranquil mulched-path walking trail.
Interested in biking to the farm? Meet up at the Urban Ecology Center in Washington Park by 8:30 am. This will be a self-led ride, so please prepare your route in advance.
