"Indoor Oyster Growing: Hands-On Demo", the first meeting of the Milwaukee Mushroom Growers group

Everything you wanted to know about propagating edible oyster mushrooms, Pleurotus ostreatus, INdoorS, on the CHeaP: starting cultures from adult fruiting body "butts" or borrowed spawn, growing on local "waste" commodities such as coffee grounds, coaxing mycelium into mushrooms, and how to care for your new pets. Come prepared to get your hands dirty!...YOU will be preparing your very own, take-home bag/box/container of ready-to-grow friends. This marks the FIRST meeting of the Milwaukee Mushroom Growers group, a project started by Victory Garden Initiative & Wisconsin Mycological Society to concentrate myco-minded locals like you! Also to be discussed: ideas for procuring logs (oak, elm, alder, maple, cottonwood felled this fall/winter/late winter) for a spring shiitake drilling & oyster totem building party and creating edible myco-forests in community gardens this spring.
