The "Energy Workgroup" will consists of non fossil based energy
projects, a few we are working on currently :
1> stationary bicycle powered generators
2> solar PV for portable AC power
3>making biodiesel from used grease
4> converting internal combustion engine vehicles to electric
This is a work group, so there will not be any boring committee
meetings, nor will there be lengthy emails. Our mission is simply
to work on energy projects. We are currently working on these 4
projects but if you have a good idea & it does not use oil/gas
let's do it : Electric tractor, solar powered water pump, manual
food grinders, wind powered whatever, etc, etc.
Projects 1 & 2 is currently in progress, we meet in Riverwest
once a week in the evening 6:30pm. We will disassemble a stationary
bike & weld a bracket for attaching an alternator to the
bicycle. Then we will rewire the alternator. We also need to modify
our solar PV trailer to accept power from multiple bicycle
generators within the next 3 weeks.
Projects 3 will begin May 23rd, we plan to have Marshall
demonstrate making biodiesel from used restaraunt grease. We plan
to make biodiesel once every 2 weeks. If you never want to stop at
another gas station, this project for you.
An example of project 4 would be an electric trike, built from a
project meets on sunday 9am.
If you are interested in helping out at these projects or just hang
out contact Swee at email@example.com or Tom at
One last note, there is an ancient Chinese saying : Give a man a
fish & you feed him for a day, teach a man how to fish you feed
him for life. This energy workgroup hopefully will give you ideas
how you can get off the fossil fuel bandwagon. Swee
