BENEFITS TO VOLUNTEERING ON THE TM STEERING COMMITTEE
PERSONAL QUALITIES
OPEN VOLUNTEER LIAISON OPPORTUNITIES
NEIGHBORHOOD GROUPS LIAISON
The Neighborhood Groups Liaison will encourage the formation of neighborhood groups and connect existing neighborhoods groups. This will entail collecting and distributing suggestions on forming groups, providing resources and information, and providing connections points between groups.
WORKGROUPS LIAISON
The Workgroups Liaison will encourage the formation of work groups and begin to set up the connection point between groups that will eventually write Milwaukee’s Energy Descent Action Plan. This will entail collecting and distributing suggestions on forming and groups and providing resources and tools for information collection – or ‘open source’ information sharing between groups.
MEMBERSHIPS LIAISON
The Memberships Liaison will develop programs that will onboard, train, and provide connection points for new and existing Transition Milwaukee members.
EVENTS COORDINATOR
Don’t you wish you knew everything ‘resiliency’ that was happening in MKE? TM has the opportunity to provide a centerfuge of event information to members. At the moment, the Events Coordinator’s only job is to find out as much as possible about what’s happening, create and publish a ‘calendar’ of events, and promote the use of the events function on our website. It’s pretty easy.
SPEAKERS BUREAU LIAISON
The Transition Initiative is based on growing collective knowledge and citizen support. The Movement supports the views of various public entities ranging from international speakers to local resources. We are looking for a person to simply build, maintain and publish a list of these resources that includes contact information, organizational/subject matter focus, location, and fees (if applicable). The amount of good this list can do is boundless.
WEBSITE & IT DESIGNER
Yes, we need an open-source platform solution that will allow every member of Transition Milwaukee to connect with each other, access AND build on already existing information (list building), and use group spaces for their autonomous purposes. Can we do this using freeware? Or should we pay for services for something really spectacular? We need this person to work closely with the Steering Committee to map the site structure and find solutions that will fulfill the needs of a rapidly growing meaningful social network in the Milwaukee Metro Area. The information on this site will serve 4 purposes:
SOCIAL COMMITTEE LIAISON (OR ‘HEART AND SOUL’) - Open
Everything is better with a little honey. The Transition Movement IS about whistling while we work with our neighbors on practical implementations that increase local resiliency. Are you the honey in everyone’s pot? Can you whistle a happy tune during even the most arduous task? We could use someone to plan happy, celebratory events and parties – or at the very least sweeten the soul of the events that already exist.
POSITIONS WITH A LIAISON THAT CAN ALWAYS USE SUPPORT
PARTNERSHIPS LIAISON – Mark Miller
The Partnerships Liaison will develop a list of local and regional organizations, businesses and individuals that align with Transition Milwaukee’s mission, develop a list of TM Partnership Benefits, and provide out-reach to these organization to develop strong alliances with Transition Milwaukee. PartnersThips will also create the backbone of the HUB – ‘partners’ will make up the workgroups and neighborhood groups that will make up the HUB.
RESKILLING COORDINATOR – Alex Montezon
The Reskilling Coordinator will organize and promote reskilling workshops in Milwaukee. This includes the promotion of already-existing local workshops ‘rebranded’ as reskilling opportunities while also coordinating reskilling workshops between educators, locations and members/neighborhoods and advertising them.
COMMUNICATIONS, BRANDING & PR LIAISON – Jessica Cohodes
TM needs to be branded (look/feel/collateral), written, and shouted and celebrated across Milwaukee and within the International Transition Network. If there was one cause and value system you could promote, wouldn’t transitioning be it?
HUB MEETINGS COORDINATOR – Natalie Berland
The HUB Meetings Coordinator will evolve with the needs of TM. Presently, we need someone to build-out the meeting topics, coordinate speakers, promote, and follow-up after each meeting. It’s not as complicated or time consuming as it sounds, promise! We will train you and provide all the tools you need. We need 1 person to do this to create consistency in the HUB meeting process and to align it to the TM mission. In the future, the HUB will consist of the workgroups and neighborhood groups, and we will be seeking a trained facilitator to run the meetings, but the content will be driven by the HUB.
FUNDRAISING LIAISON – Dan Felix
The Fundraising Liaison will coordinate and define methods of making money for the organization. Whether it is putting on events, or generating promotional materials, or charging for services and meetings – the sky is the limit. Use your imagination and TM will fly!
