Transition Milwaukee Monthly Hub Meeting at Urban Ecology Center - Riverside Park

January 25, 2010 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm
Our monthly hub meeting is an opportunity to meet in person to discuss Transition-based initiatives aimed at raising awareness about climate change and peak oil. We'll share updates about our individual sustainability projects as well as Transition projects, including Power Down Week, the Victory Garden Blitz, Staycations, Bike the Lake, and more. Now's the time to get active planning those spring and summer events! All are welcome - those new and familiar with the framework. We hope to see you…See More

"Hi Jessica I really want to make that meeting but I might have a conflict. I had planned to go to the Nov. Meeting and then last minute had to work. I will try hard to make it. Karen"

Profile Information

Why are you interested in the Transition movement?
I have been involved in the Slow Food organization for 3 years and leading sustainability groups through the North West Earth Institute. This is just another way to continue this work.
How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
See above. I am also on the Greenscape Committee in Bayside working to bring sustainability issues to the fore front of the community.
What skills, talents, and resources do you bring to the Transition movement?
I could help organize NWEI classes etc., or help with food issues in the community. I have run a business for 12 years so I also have management skills. I also am into vermicomposting and I could teach people about that.
Which topics within Transition most interest you, and what are you most interested in getting out of your involvement in the Transition Movement?
I need to come to some meetings to find out more of what you're doing.
Organizations you belong to that might collaborate with Transition
Slow Food WiSE
Bayside Greenscape Committee

Hi Karen, welcome to the group. We are in the middle of building out an affiliate and partners program, one which I think you can not only benefit from, but also you can contribute to as well. We would love to see you at the next Hub meeting on Dec 21st from 78:30 at the Urban Ecology Center. We can also use a business mind to flush out next steps when it comes to incorporating or not. Thanks for taking the time!
