Milwaukee Chicken Coopetiton

In collaboration with Transition Milwaukee we are holding a Chicken Coopetition to raise awareness to the backyard hen movement.  The task is to design and build a coop for keeps or you can donate it so others may have the opportunity to raise hens in their backyard.  You can check out our facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Milwaukee-Chicken-Coopetition/303150216371149?sk=wall Feel…See More

A workgroup focused on legalizing backyard hens for egg production in the Greater Milwaukee area. (Some members prefer to communicate via a Google group. The group below was created for this purpose.)

Profile Information

Why are you interested in the Transition movement?
CITY HENS
How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
CITY HENS
What skills, talents, and resources do you bring to the Transition movement?
Honestly as of right now, I am mostly interested in CITY HENS. I am thrilled to be doing something agriculture related in this big city. I grew up on a farm in Northeastern Wisconsin. I was in 4-H, FFA and on every dairy, horse, livestock, and poultry judging team. My FFA poultry judging team took 1st at state and 1st at Nationals in 2006. I also show poultry at my county fair and others including State Fair. I love agriculture and I can't wait to finish up my architecture and CES degrees and go back home. I hope to put my degrees to use when designing agriculture systems, buildings, landscapes, and plots that are self sustainable and environmentally friendly.
Which topics within Transition most interest you, and what are you most interested in getting out of your involvement in the Transition Movement?
CITY HENS
Organizations you belong to that might collaborate with Transition
FFA or 4-H? if they don't collaborate they should!
I am also a service learner for Arch 350 and CES 210.
