Why are you interested in the Transition movement?
I used to live in coops for years in Madison, WI. I lived at Ambrosia and Syntropy; part of the MCC (Madison Community Cooperative). It was a great experience and I think everyone should have a similar experience once in a lifetime. One thing it taught me was to live communally and economically as a group. It also moves away from the materialistic and ego centered lifestyle that most Americans strive towards.
How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
I am not involved at all but I would love to get more involved with people who share my similar values, beliefs, and interests.
What skills, talents, and resources do you bring to the Transition movement?
I like to get involved politically. I worked for Mary Burkes campaign back when she was running against Scott Walker last year. I am also realizing more and more how I impact the environment. I think I have a lot more self awareness about how the way I live impacts the rest of the world and am grateful for what I have. Also, I strive to be a minimalist and embrace a lifestyle that includes yoga, tai chi, meditation, and vegetarianism. I am also an artist!!!
Which topics within Transition most interest you, and what are you most interested in getting out of your involvement in the Transition Movement?
I think topics that i would like to get involved in include activism, politics, and the environment. If we are not working towards using less and advocating for people than i don't think we are living out our potential and purpose. ThIs is on a larger scale of course. I am also a steward for the environment and being environmentally conscious. The biggest problem right now is how to live mindfully and connected mother earth. If we don't start working towards coexisting with the planet instead of against it we will fail future generations.
Organizations you belong to that might collaborate with Transition
I want to become a member of the green party. I am also a member of the urban ecology center. I want to get more involved and believe this is an aspect of my life that I am missing right now.
