Nicole Foss Presentation ( Century of Challenges) at 1st Unitarian Society Milwaukee

January 4, 2012 from 6pm to 9pm
Post Growth economist Nicole Foss will be returning to Milwaukee once again to present the challenges that lay ahead for the 21st century. This is a very rare opportunity to gain "received wisdom" to live within a century scarcity and disruptions. The 20th century was one of exponential expansion  of energy, debt and natural resource extraction. The 21st will bring the exact opposite. Without an up front understanding of this "new normal" society is at great risk of catabolism. These are…See More

energy collective in UK

I became very interested in energy collectives while attempting to help develop a bio-diesel collective about a year before we started Transition Milwaukee. The bio-diesel world came up against several barriers and went underground for a while. It will resurface one day but for now I'd like to talk in a more general way about energy collectives. The idea of energy collectives is mentioned in passing in the Transition Handbook, but few tangible projects are offered as models. I found this rather…See More

Federal Reserve deflation warnings and The Transition Network Conference Response

The Transition Movement is asked to respond to a very daunting collection of emergencies. Climate disruption and Peak Oil being the most frequently talked about. The third in this lovely triad is monetary systems. Global economic Ponzi systems. Because these money systems are legalized gambling based on falsehoods concerning unlimited natural resources of the planet they will fail first. These are leveraged bets… Continue

Going through withdrawal like me ?

Working hard daily to end my personal addiction to oil has met with mixed results. I've ended up trading one addiction for another. I've become addicted to watching us get into the media. Many of us get into the news. Almost every week one of us has a microphone in our face or camera pointed at us. Formerly shy people now eagerly jumping on soapboxes and testifying. I find it so way over the top cool to be part of a group of passionate caring people. I see many faces and names of people I…

Hi Tom,
I've been reading Eric's excellent blog posts republished at the Energy Bulletin. That's how I found Transition Milwaukee. Did you happen to meet any of our very cool Transition Whatcom folks while in Bellingham?

Hi Tom,

I was asking about the Peak Oil Conference. But it sounds like that is what you are going to and speaking at? Good luck! I am sure you will do well.
Sura Faraj has all the copies of the zine. She is 263-1513. If you don't get a response then let me know when you need them and I'll wrestle some from her and leave them in my mailbox for you....or let me know what you'd like.

Vala
